NICK LAWRENCE
NICK LAWRENCE – LARKINS’ ALEHOUSE – Friday 4TH SEPTEMBER – 8.45 PM
Nick Lawrence is a singer-songwriter from Folkestone who has been performing to audiences around the south-east of England for over 15 years, in addition to having spent a couple of years entertaining folk around the Greater Toronto area in Canada. Having grown up listening to the traditional folk music of England and Ireland, he also acknowledges being strongly influenced by the work of artists such as The Beatles, Billy Bragg, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Levellers, Kate Rusby and Jake Thakery.
From foot-stomping folk to heartfelt ballads to historical commentary and story-telling, Nick draws from the well of traditional and contemporary folk to compose his songs. His compositions evoke images of centuries gone by, be that wassailing in the winter, the re-telling of Viking raids in Kent, or spurned love. Nick also loves audience participation and has written songs that encourage call and response from the audience.
