Unit 48

It all started with keys and drums in March 2017! UNIT 48 is a Kent based experimental funk/jazz band.

Drummer Artur Bromfield and keys player Aaron Saffell came together to start a new project. They had both already produced and gigged together with Medway based funk/new wave band Unknown Report which ceased mid 2016. Inspired by avant-garde groups such as Snarky Puppy, Vulfpeck, FKJ, Radiant Childern, Hiyatus Kayote and many more, Artur and Aaron decided form they’re very own niche group. UNIT 48 was born!

The band was named after the industrial unit at which they first rehearsed. A sign above the entrance to the ‘Jam Room’ at Fort Horsted in Chatham stating ‘UNIT 48’ was captured during a band photo shoot. Every shot included the bold rusty ‘UNIT 48’ sign which very soon became the name of the band.

In early 2018 they embarked on their first headline UK tour gigging in Cities such as Norwich, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leicester, Glasgow and London. They have performed at well known London venues such as the Spice Of Life Soho, Newcross Inn, The Islington, Luna Lounge, Zigfrid von Underbelly of Hoxton as well as the Alleycat, Nambucca and The Dublin Castle in Camden.

After a fairly drastic line-up change, Unit 48 are preparing exciting new music! Watch this space!
